A mission statement of sorts

I guess a good way to start this off would be with stating what I want to accomplish with this. I'd love to say this would lead to a published work or a job with a magazine or something to that level, but that's very long term. For right now, I'd like to write a few original stories, get some notes on them from you awesome readers out there, and catalog a few adventures along the way ... perhaps dabble in a little Gonzo journalism.

So, as far as stories go, I'm prolly not going to be publishing any novels here, but a few original shorts are definitely in order. I'd like to write

a pulp fiction/noir story
An internal monologue
an adventure ... (like a person traveling to somewhere unknown)
A detective story
A science fiction story
a kids story.

These are not listed in any order in particular, but I think the kids story would be last, because of having/wanting to attach illustrations to it.

So there you have it. Where should I start?
